Designing an Emotional, High-Impact Performance to Celebrate Leadership and Legacy

Unilever, through WLT, commissioned Events by Knight to create a surprise performance to honour the departure of CEO Alan Jobe after many years of leadership and contribution.

The brief was both simple and complex: deliver a powerful, unexpected moment that would celebrate his legacy while uniting the entire organisation in a shared experience.

This was not just entertainment. It was about creating a moment that would be remembered.

The Challenge

A successful surprise activation requires precision. The performance needed to:

  • Remain completely confidential
  • Feel authentic and emotionally resonant
  • Engage both leadership and employees
  • Deliver a seamless, high-impact moment in a live environment

The goal was to create something that felt personal, not staged.

Our Approach

Under the creative direction of Kwame Knight, the strategy focused on:

  • Blending professional performance with employee participation
  • Storytelling through choreography and music
  • Building anticipation while protecting the surprise

The intention was to create a moment that reflected both the individual and the organisation.
